Check microphone, permissions, insertion and the local model without guesswork.
The meter stays still
Open System Settings › Sound and check the input. Restart the voice test. Amber means the audio stream is running but no voice has been recognised; green confirms useful audio.
Isla appears but no text arrives
Check Accessibility and Input Monitoring. Blatero tries direct AX insertion, then temporary paste with full clipboard restoration, then Unicode events.
The first transcription takes longer
Parakeet downloads on first use and compiles for this Mac. It then stays warm for five minutes and unloads automatically.
